This is Lieutenant Peter Freund. He was drawn in March of 2003. His1:06drawing is counting ten people. Years ago there was an article in the Wall Street1:12Journal about a man in San Antonio. This businessman would spend his lunch hour1:17and occasionally weekends engaged in another form of new tourism. He would1:23patrol around, discreetly, in front of the Alamo. Whenever he saw someone getting prepared to take1:29a photograph, he would navigate himself so that he was, without a question, in the picture.1:35Sometimes he would be close, sometimes far away, but always in the picture. In the article,1:41he humbly admitted the impressive amount of photographs that he estimated he has been a part1:45of. This drawing of our fireman that was directly below the sign for the David Letterman show1:51found its way into a lot of tourist photographs, even as we were drawing it.1:56The advantage of drawing in a location where people dream of being entertained2:00is that they enjoy just that, being entertained.2:04And through that lens, we are a treat to discover.2:07In stereo across the street is Andrew, simultaneously creating on another wall.2:15Peter L. Freud was a firefighter and a stargazer.2:18He built an observatory, a 10 by 10 foot wooden cube in his backyard in West Town, New York,2:24and would look at the stars through a telescope mounted on a piece of sewer pipe.2:29In the summer, his wife Robin would often join him.2:32But there were some winter nights when I'd sit inside.← Location 231Heart Three · Location 232Location 233 →
