Just the left of where this drawing is made0:54is a really interesting little building.0:57It's 420 and you want to take a look at the third story.1:02This is Matthew Garvey. He was drawn in March of 2003.1:08His drawing is counting 10 people.1:13Each of the four hearts that we are drawing are going to be presented on the web in a different fashion or design.1:18The logic system for their presentation was decided within a month of the tragedy that started this whole effort in the first place.1:25It was decided that each heart would be different.1:28It was decided that the closer the hearts go to the World Trade Center site, the more1:32three-dimensional they would be.1:34In all hearts, we are taking substantial documentation of each figure, but that documentation is1:40dictated by how it will be used later.1:42The furthest heart away from Lower Manhattan, Heart 4, will be presented on the web as raw1:47documentation on cropped and unaltered photographs.1:50Heart 3 will take documentation and blend the photographs together to make a new single1:55photographic collage that shows the entirety of the space with a focus on the attractive2:01textures surrounding each of these drawings.2:05Heart 2 introduces pages that have rollover states and encourages the viewer to explore2:09the photos to unravel the various nuggets of information layered in the page.2:14By the time we reach Heart 1, we will be shooting 360 degree panoramas that will allow the viewer2:20to stand in front of the drawings and then look horizontally in any direction.2:24We also have plans to shoot video during these drawings, to provide more dimensions to the2:30assessing of the space while sitting at the receiving end of a computer.2:34When this drawing was wrapped up, we canvassed the area around it, snapping photographs of2:39all the different details that attracted us to this space in the first place.2:49Matthew Garvey was recently accepted to law school, was an active marine reservist, studied2:55kung fu, played guitar, took photographs, climbed to the summit of Mount Rainier, and3:01was a rescue instructor for the fire department.3:04Books on his nightstand included Don Quixote, War and Peace, The Iliad, Moby Dick.← Location 240Heart Three · Location 241Location 242 →
