He was drawn in June of 2003. His drawing is counting 10 people.1:06What a difference a couple of blocks makes. This drawing on an apartment building was done in the1:11open on a nice wide sidewalk under a warming direct sunlight and next to a tree. Things are1:17pretty good. When we were crossing the street to take pictures of it, I overheard a couple1:23discussing the figure. From what I could tell, they were not only intrigued, but they genuinely1:27liked it. I approached them to offer answers to any questions that they may have. This conversation1:34evaporated the last of my shell-shocked sensations from two blocks away. They were wonderful and1:40wonderfully engaging. We chatted for a good long time. What really stuck out was how shocked they1:45were that no one knew about the project. My standard response is always, well, you know1:51about it. I believe that it is just as important as everyone else knowing. The gentleman took1:57us on a long and logical train of thought regarding the benefits of informing the press2:01and getting more people on board. To his credit, he understood why we can't. But it was nice2:07to experience such unmitigated support. Right on, and on to the next block.2:13Charles Edward Jones was described as athletic and smart.2:18He took scuba and had multiple degrees, including an MBA from Cal State,2:22a master's in aeronautics and astronomics from MIT,2:26and an undergraduate degree in astronomical engineering from the Air Force Academy.2:32Jones was a fully qualified shuttle mission payload specialist2:35who was scheduled to fly the mission immediately following the Challenger,2:39a flight that was canceled when the Challenger exploded.← Location 268Heart Three · Location 269Location 270 →
