This is Laura Lee Morabito. She was drawn in June of 2003.0:48Her drawing is counting two people. The Patriot Act was passed specifically to0:56to assist in the war on terror.0:58The tools that it provides were designed to make it easier for the people who we task1:03to help and protect us do their job at a higher, more efficient level.1:09Access to these additional tools, which are universally understood to encroach on basic1:14existing freedoms, were provided for a period of a couple of years.1:20My understanding is that at the end of that time, they will vote on whether or not to1:24extend the use of the Patriot Act.1:27This will most likely be determined by whether the war on terror has been won or not.1:33Now I am willing to concede to the notion of restricting liberties for a defined period1:38of time.1:38What I am unsettled about is that those liberties are ironically attached to a war on the very1:45thing that wants those liberties to be restricted.1:48restricted. The war on terror objectively sounds like a concept, like a war on hate or a war on1:55apathy. A war on terrorism itself is not a winnable war. A war on an attribute of human nature can2:03only be won by understanding that attribute and addressing it. A war on hate is won by understanding2:10standing in love. A war on apathy is won by inspiration and discipline. A war on terrorism2:17is won by communication, respect, and love.2:24Laura Lee Morabito, 34, met her future husband in the jacuzzi at an apartment complex where2:30they were neighbors. They shared an appreciation for Barry Manilow's singing, and they sat on the2:35pool deck sharing a bottle of wine and a pizza all evening even as the rain began to fall.2:41She just had a beautiful smile, Mark Morabito said.← Location 309Heart Three · Location 310Location 311 →
