An apartment building is on your right. When you find0:38yourself facing the north east corner of this apartment complex you'll see the0:43brick space this drawing was made in. This drawing was made underneath the0:46window that does not have a vent. This is Kenneth E. Waldie. He was drawn in July of0:532004. His drawing is counting one person. From here we start getting into far more1:03private area. If we cross the street over at 784 Columbus Ave we can, I'm gonna walk1:07you over to the back of this this 15-story apartment complex and I'll show1:11you a drawing space that was done right underneath someone's private living1:15window. This is a good instance of the obstacles we can confront and the people1:21were interacting with and I know that this drawing brought one security guard1:27over and that security guard didn't know exactly how to handle me so he got1:30another security guard and I think like pretty soon three or four people were1:34being looked to for clearance about just having me do a drawing of a fellow1:39wearing a hat on this wall and it gets into the the idea that nobody quite knew1:44how to handle us and we were kind of like a blank slate so some people saw us1:49us as a really wonderful opportunity to talk to and share their histories or tell us about1:55the people that they had known who passed away on September 11th, which happened.1:58In this neighborhood, somebody had a cousin who had passed away on September 11th and2:03was eager to talk to us about who his cousin was exactly and whether or not he would be2:08able to track down his cousin in the project online.2:11But this was an instance of security guards not knowing exactly how to handle what it2:17it is we were doing.2:19For instance, his daughter Meredith plays on the varsity basketball team, wearing number2:26Mr. Waldie was at games so often that the coaches referred to him as number forty-four2:31and a half.2:32He kept himself as fit as a professional athlete.2:35He jogged and worked out every day, and at work he always skipped lunch so he could go2:39on long walks with colleagues.← Location 373Heart Four · Location 374Location 375 →
