Her drawing is counting one person. I mean I used to be a serious landscape painter0:55when I was in high school and I would go out at night and just like stand in the city and paint0:59and it was the same thing when you were like you pray that no one will talk to you. I didn't want1:03to talk to anybody because I just didn't want to be disturbed. I wanted to just work and and not1:07have to talk about it but at the same time I knew that people were interested in what I was doing1:12and if I were them and I saw somebody painting I would probably want to go up and talk to them as1:16well. And so in some sense I felt like I had some responsibility to engage people.1:22And of course the content of my work wasn't quite as profound as the work you1:26guys were doing and you know it wasn't painting on people's private property1:29but I mean that's another thing like you're out in public you don't normally1:33interact with strangers and then suddenly there's a reason to and you do.1:38As a nurse educated in England and married to a doctor she was determined1:43determined to see her girls properly educated.1:46After settling in California, she created a home filled with exotic decorative touches,1:51spicy Middle Eastern food, and books in French, English, Arabic, and Italian that she read1:58obsessively to her and her daughters.← Location 393Heart Four · Location 394Location 395 →
