This is Dorothy Alma de Araujo. She was drawn in July of 2004. Her0:45drawing is counting one person. That one's next to a church which has been abandoned for a0:51really long time. Really? We drew in that church. The church is interesting because it's one of0:56When I used to come up to Columbia, occasionally I'd base out or fall asleep on the 23.1:00And the 23 doesn't follow the 19 at some point and kicks off over into this neighborhood.1:06And so I'd end up getting off Malcolm X Boulevard and having to walk over.1:11And so I was familiar for years with a lot of these buildings.1:14And it was exciting to finally be able to come back through the neighborhood with a sense of intention1:20instead of just accidentally wandering through it.1:23It [unclear] I wandered through it.1:25I did just wander through it, through it, like the way most people experience Ohio,1:31Illinois, and Indiana.1:33Did you draw on this church?1:34This church.1:35This is an example.1:37This is one of those buildings that makes me long for more time for exploration.1:45Obviously, since we got to walk around Manhattan, we were able to come upon a lot of structures1:53that deserve further time.1:57We see windows that we want to go through, we see fences that we can climb, we want to2:03get inside of the bellies of these things and really enjoy the history that's left for2:08us to enjoy.2:10She was known as our artist because she captured the area's canals, boats, shops, and homes2:17in detailed flashy watercolors.2:21Dorothy, a cheery, independent 82-year-old woman who had lived alone for more than 202:26years, was a frequent traveler to places famous for their scenery and museums, France, Australia,2:32Italy, Brazil, and Hawaii.← Location 409Heart Four · Location 410Location 411 →
