Morgan Chase.0:14We were shooed away from any surface related to J.P. Morgan Chase,0:19and security officers made sure that we didn't take photographs of the buildings themselves.0:24We were left to find a space that was public between these large corporate towers, and0:31that led us to the large cement planters in the center of this grand boulevard.0:37The planters hold small trees and were just wide enough to successfully draw a person0:43lying on their back.0:44This is David DiMeglio.0:47He was drawn in March of 2003.0:49and three. His drawing is counting ten people. In the valley between the towering Chase Manhattan0:57buildings are open plazas spilling into the wide median strips of Park Avenue. The occupants of1:05this valley are two security officers patrolling back and forth with a mirror on a stick for1:10checking under stopped cars. Unpatrolled was the center of the road where wide planters provided1:16provided more than enough space for our drawing.1:19Both guards were satisfied with the solution to not draw on their skyscrapers.1:24But then we went to take our pictures and their attitudes changed.1:28We were informed immediately that if we took photographs and they had any part of the bank1:33building in them, he would take a picture of us and send it to the terrorist suspect1:37network.1:38He had a camera.1:40The officer on the other side of the street was playing by the same rules.1:43So as Adriana took photographs of the median strip in the street, I barked directions at her to crop, zoom, and hold the camera at low angles, and by no means pointed at any of the building.1:55My theoretical berating of her documentation pacified the situation. We moved on.2:01David DiMeglio was a child of his digital generation. He loved computers, and was this close to turning that love into a career.2:09David was no one-note computer nerd. He wrote and sang rap songs and loved to draw.2:16He loved motorcycles, even dismantling one in the garage, and he was an avid wrestling fan.2:22On September 11th, David, who lived with his father near Boston, headed west on American2:27Airlines Flight 11 to help his mother move. He was just coming into himself, said his father John.← Location 217Heart Three · Location 218Location 219 →
