He was drawn in July of 2004.0:47His drawing is counting one person.0:50A couple of kids had been hanging on, or rather hanging out, around that building,0:56there was a woman who had been running a center to just try to get kids in the neighborhood1:03involved in activities we'd want them to be involved in.1:07And so a couple of kids were in the area and hanging out and pretty bright-eyed,1:11and I think that they were like, their main mission was to go to a convenience store to get some ice cream.1:16But they got distracted by what Andrew was doing, tape art, something that they had never seen.1:22And so we ended up spending time with them.1:25Andrew drew the figure, but the kids were given rolls of tape showing what we do.1:30We basically gave them the teaching spiel.1:33You know, this is the medium, this is how we draw with it.1:36Be considerate about the walls you draw on, but in the same breath have some fun.1:41And the kids were psyched that street art became an impromptu art lesson for them.1:46And from an unlikely hero at best to Andrew just sort of wandering these streets.1:56He was his unusual happy self and he had three shirts from the firehouse for the boys.2:01They still wear them.2:03Bob was going to retire in September.← Location 432Heart Four · Location 433Location 434 →
