She was drawn in July of 2004. Her drawing is counting0:46one person. I have one or two friends with some really amazing stories of that0:53could do justice to by telling, but I do remember reading this one account of a guy who was working0:57at the Wall Street Journal at the time and their offices were right, I don't think they were in1:01that build, in the buildings themselves, but maybe across the street. And he was going into work that1:06day and just, it didn't occur to him that he would have to evacuate or that he should stay away.1:12He was so desperate to get to the offices of the paper because he figured they would still be there1:16reporting the story that he crawled through a subway tunnel that had been shut down to get to1:24and like got into work and he turned on his computer and he started emailing people and1:28they're like are you out of your mind get out of there yeah i can't help but think about for all1:34the stories of somebody who like was supposed to be at the world trade center that day for whatever1:39reason had a doctor's appointment had a doctor's appointment and or didn't you know whatever odd1:44ball with their kid their kid was late to school or they got a call from their principal saying1:48and they needed to come in because something, you know,1:51there's also the inverse of that,1:53as somebody who, for whatever reason,1:55ended up having to be in those buildings.1:57At the same time, they have their flip side, in my mind.2:01I can't help but think about the people2:03who were there by chance and suffered as a result.2:07Also, the airline passengers really stand testament2:10to the idea that the people working in Manhattan2:13who were in the World Trade Centers2:15were a part of a capitalist structure2:18somebody might find fault with, but the airline passengers really stand2:23testament to the idea that this could have been anybody.2:26And I think that they're an important aspect of the project and2:30representing them was really important.2:32The McFarlands took advantage of the free flights that are offered to airline employees to travel together.2:38Marianne Macfarlane, tall, blonde, vivacious, and her mother flew to Disney World just to get their hair cut by a hairdresser at the Contemporary Resort Hotel.← Location 465Heart Four · Location 466Location 467 →
