We had been given permission0:41to draw inside the watch door. Though the space is small, the sunglass hut has rearranged0:48the interior and the wall that we drew on is now gone.0:52This is Lieutenant Michael Fodor. He was drawn in March of 2003. His drawing is counting 10 people.1:01We have come around the corner to Rockefeller Center. There is a police officer on every corner, and the video cameras are grouped together and perched high on the buildings.1:10The cameras are the permanent residents with nothing better to do than lean out their windows looking for any sign of trouble.1:17The man is everywhere.1:19Lots of options are bantered about, all themed around drawing inside one of the buildings,1:24in a dressing room if we have to.1:26The ice rink is rocking.1:28The stores are packed.1:29People are everywhere.1:31And we are reduced to a moment of temporary paralysis.1:34A cute little watch store with a single employee gives us hope.1:38After hearing our plight, wants, and wishes, he lets us draw on the corner of his store1:43while he waits on customers.1:44He couldn't have been more endearing, and he proved a drastic contrast to the employees we met six drawings ago.1:51In this quiet environment, the scenery is only watches.1:55We bought one, thanked him for the drawing and the watch,1:58promised not to show the name of the store, and went fashionably on our way.2:08Holidays were Lieutenant Fodor's favorite time of the year, his wife said,2:12and like many firefighters, he loved to cook.2:14After he was promoted to lieutenant 17 years ago,2:18he saved the cooking, and especially his pièce de résistance,2:22prime ribs and Yorkshire pudding, just for the family.← Location 223Heart Three · Location 224Location 225 →
